Oasis Star heading for the Dubai desert

"Frankly, I can tell you she will go to Dubai," said C D Katrak, who trains Oasis Star, "but I don't know when." The trainer of the highest rated filly in the history of Indian racing sounded optimistic about Oasis Star's overseas prospects, but refused to speculate about the time frame in which this would happen.

Incidentally, Oasis Star, owned by Mr & Mrs Shapoor Mistry, Mr & Mrs Cyrus Mistry and Tariq D Vaidya, won the grade 3, Turf Club Trophy on Sunday at Pune as the shortest priced runner of the current Pune campaign.

Excertps from the interview:

PG: There was talk about Oasis Star going to the U.S., what happened to that?
CDK: She is not going to the U.S. And I am happy about it. She will go to Dubai.

PG: Happy about it? Why?
CDK: It would have been very difficult to get someone to look after her in the U.S. Dubai is different. I can get someone to look after her. And I can personally go and train her in Dubai.

PG: So when does Oasis Star leave for Dubai?
CDK: I don't know. I mean we are expecting to hear about it in 8-10 days. There is talk about Dubai not letting Indian horses come directly because of last year's outbreak. If it is true, we will have to take a little circuitous route. We will have to send her to Malaysia for three months, and then she can leave for Dubai. In any case, I hope Oasis Star will be in Dubai latest by December. And that's okay with us.

PG: How do you rate her?
CDK: She is the best I have trained, without doubt. And she is very well-mannered, has always trained easy, never been temperamental. She's the best filly over the trip of 1400 & 1600m. After all, she has four track records to her credit--two at Hyderabad, one at Mumbai and one at Pune.

PG: Are you fully satisfied about her career so far?
CDK: Well, it was just unfortunate that she came to hand a bit late, or she could have won the Indian 1000 Guineas. But no regrets. She has lost only three races so far--the one on debut, the 1000 Guineas and that awful ride she got in Pune last year (Katrak, however, does not name jockey Wayne Smith).

PG: Who will ride Oasis Star in Dubai?
CDK: We will see. It's too early to think about it. But I would love to see Srinath ride her in Dubai. He has a great equation with her.

  4. Mr Bhavya,
I am a bit confused, as I can't find your blog. It was on my toolbar, but it's not there. So it has clearly been removed by my Blog Moderator. She will not do it without a reason. Had you stopped blogging recently? Anyway, as you know I don't analyze the whole card; I post only FINOO selections, which I have already posted for the Thursday Bangalore races.

You are true that I stopped posting my selections for few days some for some reasons. Anyway your FINOO bets(Red Renegade & Flip your destiny) for Thursday Bangalore are my picks too. Both have good chance to score and have to fight out with Spring a surprise & Aspiring seven respectively. What do you say?
