Circle of competence

Although several well-meaning people and followers had warned that it was meaningless to carry on FINOO Experimental bets & Bookies' Delights when FINOO Prime bets were giving such immense edge and profitability, I had nevertheless persisted with the Exp trial as I felt any experiment that was just begun should not be abandoned simply because the results were not as great as FINOO Prime bets.

However, neither any racing logic nor any consistency of strike rate is visible yet. True, barring WIN & PLACE bets category, which is showing substantial loss, the other two are not doing as badly--PLACE in fact is still shoing a decent 12% profit AFTER accounting for the Tote taxes. But all in all, the exercise seems to be heading nowhere, and is needlessly proving a distraction both for the inventor of FINOO and its followers.

Charlie Munger, legendary investor Warren Buffett's partner, once said that every successful person, or a sound theory, or a winning method has its own "circle of competence", and a wise man is one who not only knows its boundaries, but takes care to NEVER step out! I wish I had taken heed to his words.

But enamoured by FINOO's Prime bets' sensational success, I forgot wise Charlie's words of caution.

However, it's never too late to make amends. So, like the old days, let's only monitor FINOO Prime Bets from this day onwards and see, IF in the near future, this great time and labour saving system, which requires, on-an-average, only 3-hours a month of quality concentration time and minimal record keeping, can show us path to riches in this game where till date there is no credible long-term success story of a winning investor.
