Saturday (June 6) races

Filter rules save money: Seven Star (NS Parmar up), in race# 9, shaped like a winner before faltering close home and got onto the FINOO list. But filter rules applied could not recommend her as a bet. She finished a bad last, saving money and trouble for the FINOO list followers. [Pic from BTC race video)

FINOO list horse for Bangalore, Saturday card (June 6):

There is only one horse on the Saturday (June 6) card that also figures on the FINOO (Follow-In-Next-Outing-Only) list:

Seven Star (1-5)

a) Running at the same or similar level (Has earned only a 4-point penalty for the last run (25 to 29), so although running in higher class [class IV] now, "technically" deemed as runing at the same or similar level)

b) NOT running over + or -200m of the last trip (going from 1400 to 1800m)

c) Ridden by the same or better jockey (From NS Parmar to Suraj Narredu)

Satisfies only 2 of 3 conditions.

NO bet.

NOTE: Again, Seven Star has come onto the FINOO list exhibiting a fantastic pattern, so there is a definite temptation to let go the breakage of rule (b) above, especially since, under (c), it is going out with a far superior jockey so one would be tempted to "rationalize" that (c) will more than take care of lack of (b) above. However, I would once again like to dig up the "discipline" issue, and rather skip the bet than make it. Once in a while, there is no harm in watching your choice winning without your money riding on it. You may miss some profit, but at the same time, you would collect a point for sticking to discipline. Not a bad bargain, I think.

Good luck.

  1. I came to this site by accident. Is this for real? I mean this record.

  2. There may be a mistake in this data. There are 19 bets listed in win W/L and only 18 in place W/L.

  3. Dear Patrick S,
This is for real. You can check past posts to confirm.

    Dear Vishwas,
There is no mistake in the data. Bet#4, Smoking Aces was a loser in the WIN slot, but since there were only three horses in the race, no PLACE pool was applicable at BTC tote, so there was no betting in the place slot. I will put a dash marker in that place to avoid confution.
Thanks anyways for pointing this out.

  4. Can you explain why these horses are not in finoo list.

Media Man , Movie Queen , Good Companion , Spark of Class , Marcegalia , Easy , Kyles of Bute , Snob Value , Mucho , Valid Expectation.

is the criteria different. In respect of Seven Star the rule has been relaxed , why not for the above if they have failed your condition.

a clarification would be in order.

  5. Dear Govind,
One thing you must get straight at the outset is that these rules have NOTHING to do with the "SELECTION" of the FINOO (Follow-In-Next-Outing-Only) list horses. These rules come in as sort of a FILTER or QUALIFYING RULES to be applied to horses on the FINOO list when they choose to run next time. In a nutshell, these rules will only decide if the horse (already on the FINOO list) qualifies as a bet or not.
To get some idea as to how a horse gets onto the FINOO list (to be watched for the next outing), I suggest you read my earlier posts on the topic. Do make it a point to read "Missing the FINOO bus" article at [ http://prakashgosavi.blogspot.com/2009/04/missing-finoo-bus.html ]. I think that will put things in perspective for you.
If you have any further query, please do not hesitate to question again.

  6. Mr Gosavi your mention of the article 'the finoo bus' reminds me how I had reacted to your claims. Your finoo theory was only two bets old and I had criticized you saying that two bets don't make a season. But now after 19 recommended bets (I have come to your blog every day) I must admit these figures are just unbelievable. Of course, I should still say the sample is still small and maybe as a critic I should take a call after 100 bets (which I will certainly do) but let me take this opportunity to salute your method which may possibly accomplish what it promises. And by the way, thanks for an absolutely amazing toolbar. It has saved me many hours already. Great going and I wish you many more successes.

  7. Hi-All.

Today FINOO horse fails to qualify all the three conditions. Hence no win bet. Now if you consider the TF
FF,PP and PR of each horse then FAIR OPTION towers them all.

I think it is worth betting on this horse.Anyway I am going to bet.

Best of luck to all FINOO friends.

Thanks and have a great day

  8. Hi RAVI,
I would like to point out that today's FINOO list horse flunks only 1 of the 3 conditions. Not all 3.
By the way, I wish good luck for your choice.

  9. Mr Gosavi, do you think you can give similar results for British races as well? I am in Pune for a month or more. I should like to meet you if the answer is yes.
    Patrick S.

  10. Dear Patrick S,
Technically, "YES", the results should be similar in principle. However, as Mima above has written in today, the FINOO method should be taken seriously only after the sample grows to minimum 100 bets (I would consider 500 bets as a fair sample but looking at the low frequency of bets it may take too long a time). Until then, any claim I make about FINOO being universally applicable is pointless.
But right now, I can tell you what I will need to apply FINOO method to British racing:
    a) Videos of trackwork (or a team of track watchers briefed by me as to what I want them to look for in the track trials)
    b) Videos of races (DVD quality)
    c) Access to up-to-date jockey stats (track-wise, because unlike India you have too many tracks)

By the way, right now I am definitely NOT interested in getting into any new project (lack of time), but there is no harm if we just meed casually.
